Measure once, order once

Take three measurements with a soft tape while your dog is standing. Back length sets the size. Neck and chest confirm the coat will close comfortably.

Tap a field and the diagram will show you where that measurement goes. C is the one that decides the size.

Measuring in
Around the base of the neck, where a collar sits.
in
The widest point, just behind the front legs. This is what has to close.
in
Base of the neck to the base of the tail, along the spine. This is the measurement that sets the size, so take it twice.

Six things worth knowing

Tap any marker on the coat, or any panel below it, to see what that detail does.

Saginaw Fleece coat, side view

Built for the days you still have to go out

A dog does not check the forecast. Here is what the Saginaw handles, and the part of the coat doing the work.

Cold temperaturesFleece lining

Cold temperatures

Frozen mornings

Fleece lining holds body heat in without the bulk of a puffer, so your dog moves at full speed instead of waddling.

Rain and snowWaterproof shell

Rain and snow

The walk you would rather skip

Water beads off the shell instead of soaking through, and the zipper is sealed too, which is where most coats quietly let water in.

WindShell and belly straps

Wind

Open ground and exposed trails

The shell blocks wind that would otherwise cut straight through fur, and the belly straps stop the coat lifting when it comes from the side.

Low lightReflective panels

Low light

Before work and after dinner

Reflective panels run down both flanks. Drivers see your dog from the side last, and that is the angle these are built for.

Five colors, one coat

Same shell, same fleece, same reflective panels. The only decision is which one you want your dog sporting.

Still have a question?

Ask us

Yes. Most people run the harness underneath and bring the leash up through the D-ring slot on the shoulders, so nothing has to be unzipped mid-walk. A bulky harness with wide chest padding may push you toward the larger size if your dog is already close to a boundary.

The shell is waterproof and the zipper is sealed, which is the part most coats skip. It sheds rain and wet snow rather than slowly soaking through. It is a coat rather than a dry suit, so a dog who swims in it will still come out wet underneath.

Go by back length. Chest tells you which two sizes are in play, and back length decides which of the two will actually sit right. The fit finder further up this page does that calculation for you.

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle and hang it to dry. Skip fabric softener and never put it in a dryer on heat, since both break down the waterproof finish over time. Shake the loose hair off before it goes in and the fleece stays fleece.

The belly straps are elastic rather than hook-and-loop, so they stretch as your dog moves and keep tension instead of loosening up. Deep-chested breeds usually size by chest first and then check the back length, since that combination is where fit goes wrong.

Send it back within 30 days in unworn condition and we will make it right. Measuring first is still the faster path, which is why the fit finder is near the top of this page rather than buried at the bottom.
