There’s nothing better than spending some time at the beach in the summer, especially if you can take your furry friend with you! Before you head to the beach, read our blog post on

3) Downs Memorial Park Dog Beach
8311 John Downs Loop, Pasadena, MD 21122
Price: $6 per vehicle per day
Information from BringFido: Located off the perimeter trail in Downs Memorial Park, the Downs Memorial Park Dog Beach is a fantastic place for new dogs to learn to swim or veteran canine swimmers to enjoy some time in the water. Once you and your dog are done with the water fun, leash your pup up for a walk on the more than 5 miles of trails through the park.
4) Matapeake Park Dog Beach
1112 Romancoke Road, Stevensville MD, 21666
Price: Free admission, but must pay for parking
Information from BringFido: Matapeake has a public beach with a clubhouse, and a nearby trail that winds around to the dog beach section. The trail itself is a nice short hike for the dog, yet is long enough that it’s adequately separated from the public areas. Dogs can run off leash, retrieve in the water, and sniff out the surroundings.
5) Terrapin Nature Park
191 Log Canoe Cir, Stevensville, MD, US, 21666
Information from BringFido: This hidden gem of a park has unlikely access through an industrial/business area. The entrance is gained off Log Canoe Circle. Park in the parking lot and follow the trail. The trail winds around the 270-acre nature park through woodlands, marsh, and tidal ponds. Take one of the side trails off to the left to get to the beach that runs along the shore of the Chesapeake that allows dogs on a leash. The views of the Bay are great and the surroundings tranquil. The beach isn't huge, but Rover will love the romp.
6) Bayfront Park
7255 Bayside Rd, Chesapeake Beach, MD, US, 20732
Price: Cost from Memorial Day through Labor Day: $13/adult, $9/senior (55+), $9/child (up to age 11). Free during the offseason.
Information from BringFido: Leashed-dog friendly beach on the Chesapeake, also known as Brownie's Beach. Find fossilized shark teeth in the sand, play in the waves., or go for a swim.
7) Elk Neck State Park
4395 Turkey Point Rd, North East, MD 21901
Price: Admission on weekdays is $3 per vehicle and $3 per person on weekends, but add on a dollar to each charge if you’re visiting from outside Maryland.
Information from Tripping: Halfway between Baltimore and Philly, Elk Neck State Park sits on a peninsula separating the north end of the Chesapeake Bay and the mouth of Elk River. Diverse terrain, sights and landmarks can be found in distinct areas of the 2,000 acre protected wilderness, yet the draw for folks with dogs is the North East Beach Area, where pups can run around and swim in the off-season months (before April and after October). People may swim here too, but only when buoys are marked and during the summer months; in lieu of swimming weather or desire, hike with a canine companion to the end of White Banks Trail to see cliff drops and impressive views of the bay.. Unless previously specified, keep your pet leashed.
